Name:  Baxter and Bubo
Species:  Great Horned Owl, Bubo virginianus
Great Horned Owls Facts
They call in the evening with a distinct hoot-call that sounds like "Who's awake...Me too."

Great Horned owls eat snakes, frogs, mice, rabbits, skunks and even porcupines.

The "horns" are just feather tufts used in communication.

Baxter
Bubo was brought to the Center in 1990, after being hit by a car in Falls Village.  He is now missing one wing and cannot fly.  He has recently started hooting with the addition of his new aviary friend, Baxter.

Baxter came to the Center in 1999.  He also was hit by a car and is now missing a wing.  Both owls frequent our education programs to schools and the public.
