Name:  Morgan
Species:  Merlin, Falco columbarius
Morgan is a female Merlin - a type of falcon.  Falcons are small hawks with pointed wings designed for high speed.  They can change direction quickly and even catch small birds and dragonflies in flight!

Morgan was migrating south in 1996 when she was struck by a golf ball in Farmington.  Her scapula, a bone near her shoulder, was shattered.  She will never fly again.  Morgan is very vocal and you may hear her ki-ki-ki-ki-kee as you walk through the exhibit room.
