Red-tailed Hawk Facts
Their call is a frightening "keeer" often heard as they soar overhead.

Soaring is a way of using wind to fly without flapping their wings.

Red-tails can be seen in Connecticut all year-round.

Adults have a distinct red tail seen as they soar.

Their talons are their most powerful weapon.

Kyra
Kyra joined the Center in January 1999.  He had been tangled in barbed wire and injured his wing when he tried to escape.  The muscles will never heal properly.

Tempest is blind in one eye, but can fly short distances.  Tempest came to the Center in July 1999.
