| Species: Spotted Turtles, Clemmys guttata |
| Spotted Turtles are found in swampy areas in Connecticut.
They sometimes bask on an open log, but you have to be quick to look before
they hop into the water.
Basking is a common behavior for spotted and painted turtles. They sit on a rock in the open sun to absorb heat and it helps keep their shells clean of algae and parasites. They are both males, based on their brown eye color, and are over ten years old. |
