| Species: Wood Turtles, Clemmys insculpta |
| Wood Turtles live along river edges, such as the Housatonic
River. They are currently protected in Connecticut because their
habitat is disappearing as more people build houses along river edges.
They are good climbers and strong swimmers. They blend in well with the rocks under the water. |

| Two wood turtles have been at the Center about 10 years. Both were admitted to the rehab program. One had a leg deformity and the other was hit by a car. |
