Mary Beth Henson was appointed Chief Financial Officer for the National Audubon Society in January. As CFO, she will provide leadership for Audubon’s finances, financial operations, decision support, and the redesign of our business processes. She will lead the national finance team and work closely with finance teams throughout the network.

Background

Mary Beth previously served as Vice President, Finance, for City Harvest, Inc., starting in 2008. In that role, she overhauled the organization’s financial systems to improve the usefulness and timeliness of management reporting, and performed detailed economic modeling of City Harvest’s five-year Strategic Plan, including the impact of two major capital projects and accompanying significant operational changes. Mary Beth also proposed and implemented the organization’s first investment and cash management policies, and led the overhaul of employee benefit offerings. Prior to her time at City Harvest, she had a 19-year career in investment banking and treasury operations at Merrill Lynch and Chase. An avid golfer, gardener, and chef, Mary Beth also serves as a volunteer Director for Immigration Equality, a national organization that works to end discrimination in U.S. immigration law. She resides with her partner in New York City and the North Fork of Long Island.

Education

Mary Beth got her B.A. from the University of Virginia with a double major in Economics and English. She later got an M.B.A. in Finance from New York University.
