Cashier
Location: Dallas, Texas
Immediate Supervisor: Operations Manager
Division/Department: Trinity River Audubon Center

 
Purpose of the position:

To conduct admissions sales and serve as the initial point of contact for visitors at the information desk.

To support The National Audubon Society's mission - to conserve and restore natural ecosystems, focusing on birds, other wildlife, and their habitats for the benefit of humanity and the Earth's biological diversity.

 
Essential Functions:
  • Accepts payment, applies monies, receives and makes accurate change.  Processes credit card payments.  Balances cash drawers at end of each shift.
  • Records center attendance and calculate guest numbers on a daily, weekly and monthly basis, using provided spreadsheet and procedures.
  • Stocks inventory and supplies at front desk area as needed.  Promotes positive customer/employee relations at all times and maintains a clean, safe work environment within area of responsibility.
  • Handles admission (fees) and membership purchase.
  • Daily, seeks to acquire knowledge of scheduled events/activities and details of published discounts, programs, offerings so that they may provide accurate and complete information to customers.
  • Assists with sales memberships through kiosk and is informed on the benefits of membership.
  • Encourages participation in the volunteer program and provides information on becoming a volunteer.
  • Directs customers to appropriate staff to handle sales beyond basic admission (has knowledge of who those staff members are and what they do).
  • Other duties as assigned.
 

Additional Functions:

  • Answer main center phone line.
  • May assist with standard office clerical duties.
 
Equipment: (e.g., computer, typewriter, calculator, copy machines, telephone, etc.)

POS system, Computer, multi-line phone, voice mail system, copier, postage machine, fax machine, and software.

 
Qualifications: (e.g., education, training, experience, licenses and skills)

High School Diploma or GED; or six (6) months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education of education and experience.  Cashier experience required. Must possess a valid Texas driver’s license.

 

Physical Requirements: (e.g., lifting, reaching, climb, push/pull, etc.)

Sit, reach, grasp, lift, carry, walk, climb, kneel, stand, push, pull.
Including an ability to sit or stand at the information desk work station for long periods of time.

This description is for a full-time position (35 hours per week) 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Wednesday – Saturday and 9:30 am to 5:30 pm on Sunday.
