Circulation Membership Manager

Primary Duties

Essential Functions:

The circulation manager will report to a senior fundraising executive and have the following day-to-day responsibilities:

  • Ensure that Audubon meets rate base on each issue by developing and managing a yearly budget and plan utilizing the department’s circulation model including re-forecasting after each issue.
  • Coordinate with fulfillment organization and internal staff in directing print order
  • Develop and manage monthly renewal and billing programs to current subscribers
  • Team with fundraising staff to coordinate new member mailings that meet rate base requirements for six yearly issues
  • Work with outside free lancers in the development of direct mail packages for new subscribers, renewals, billing and insert cards
  • Coordinate with in-house print production manager to ensure that mailings are on time and on budget
  • Educate internal fundraising staff and magazine sales staff on the yearly circulation plan and its monthly performance
  • Be active and aggressive in finding alternative sources that provide net paid circulation at lower costs utilizing Internet opportunities and verified circulation for those who show interest in the organization
  • Prepare the ABC statement

Qualifications (e.g., education, training, experience, licenses and skills)

Three to five years experience managing circulation for a monthly niche magazine.  Hands on knowledge of all areas of circulation including new subscribers, renewals, billing, inserts and data analysis.  Experience in traditional fundraising direct mail would be considered a plus but not required
