Global Warming in Colorado
The Canary in the Coalmine
Global warming is the biggest environmental threat of our lifetime. The time to act is now!
According to the latest report from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, leading scientists around the world agree that man-made greenhouse gases from fossil fuels are causing global warming. Effects are already being seen worldwide. And long-term consequences will be devastating, pointing to a bleaker future for people, birds and other wildlife each day we fail to act.
But if each of us takes action now — in our homes, in our communities, and in our nation — there is still time to reduce global warming pollution and help safeguard our environment for birds, wildlife, and our children.
Confronting the greatest environmental crisis in our history will take commitment, dedication, and even sacrifice — but nothing less than the future is at stake. Audubon has joined with the Alliance for Climate Protection to call on all Americans to take action.

Global Warming Threats and Solutions in Colorado:
Protecting and Mobilizing Western States Against Global Warming
Colorado is at the front and center in the battle against global warming. Scientific data indicate that Colorado, which already suffers from the impacts of mining, drilling, deforestation and chronic water shortages, will be hotter than most of the rest of the country and thus will be heavily impacted by global warming in the coming decades.
Audubon is uniquely positioned to educate and mobilize Coloradoans about global warming solutions that protect our wildlife, ecosystems, and people. Working in close coordination with our environmental and clean energy colleagues around the country, we are intending to activate our network of state offices, local chapters, nature education centers, birders and conservation supporters to advocate for global warming solutions that reduce emissions and protect Colorado’s natural resources.
