Women at the Spring

A series of integrated workshops created to empower women by connecting them to the prairie through the study of its history, the role of women then and now, and how visual and performing arts within the natural habitat strengthen and guide women.

Workshop 1: "I am Creator"
Saturday, March 14, 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
This workshop will bring together a gentle yoga session, a walking meditation on the prairie focusing on Nature's symmetry and sensory experiences, and the construction of a three-dimensional assemblage. This personal "shrine" is intended to celebrate and honor oneself. A written reflection will accompany these activities, designed to express one's roots, wings, and our sense of the creative process. Presenters are Liz Merry, yoga instructor; Janet Eskridge, artist and art therapist; and Deb Hauswald, education coordinator at Spring Creek Prairie.

Fee: $50/person. All materials will be provided, including lunch. Participants should dress for outdoor activities.

Workshop 2: "I am Moonrise"
Saturday, October 3, 3:00 to 9:00 p.m.
Presenter Kelly Madigan Erlandson will lead a discussion of the mysterious processes that impact our ability to work creatively. She will share several ways of looking at creativity, explore barriers and catalysts, and engage the audience in questions designed to enhance their own relationship to the creative process. The day will encompass a combination of lecture, hands-on activities, a contemplation walk on the prairie, and writing. As the harvest moon rises, we will gather around the campfire to share and drum.

Fee: $50/person. All materials will be provided, including lunch. Participants should dress for outdoor activities.
