Susan Lunden—Chief Operating Officer

Susan Lunden

Susan Lunden manages Audubon’s daily and long-term operations, providing leadership for Finance, Human Resources, and Audubon’s other operational departments. Since becoming the Chief Operating Officer in 2012, Lunden has overseen the hiring of Audubon’s new executive team and has increased the effectiveness of Audubon’s administration while lowering costs and managing business risks.

With more than 25 years of financial, operational, and administrative experience in both the corporate and nonprofit sectors, Lunden is streamlining Audubon’s operational practices to support the strategic plan and increase organizational efficiency. Her leadership of Audubon’s membership and direct response fundraising will enable the organization to connect with its passionate supporters and effect concrete conservation results within a balanced budget. Looking forward, Lunden plans to spend half of her time directing membership and half of her time supporting Audubon’s growing network.

In Lunden’s previous role at Audubon, Chief of Staff, she streamlined the Finance and Human Resources departments—serving as interim head of each team, improved National Board meetings, hired a new executive team, and more. Before joining Audubon, Lunden was the Westchester County Chapter President for The Pajama Program—a national nonprofit that distributes books and pajamas to children in need. She spent the majority of her career in leadership roles at Time Inc.’s Corporate Finance and Corporate Sales and Marketing divisions as well as at Money and Fortune magazines.
