Bladder-Pod Beeplant

Also known as Bladderpod. A shrub that grows to 5 feet high and 6 feet wide. It produces yellow flowers, followed by fruits that become hollow when dried. It can tolerate poor soil conditions and is drought tolerant.

Common Chamise

A shrub that grows up to 10 feet high and 6 feet wide. It produces small, white flowers during the summer followed by bird-friendly seeds. It is drought tolerant and can tolerate full sun. 

Eastern Hemlock

Also known as Canadian Hemlock and Hemlock-Spruce. This tall evergreen tree attains a height of 40-70 feet (though very old trees may grow much larger) and a spread of 25-35 feet. It is more shade-tolerant than many evergreens and bears short, soft needles and pendant, 1/2-inch-long cones.

California-Laurel

Also known at California Bay Laurel. An evergreen tree that can grow up to 60 feet high and 30 feet wide. It produces white/cream flowers March through May, following by fruit. It is drought tolerant and can tolerate sun and shade. 

Creeping Snowberry

A creeping shrub that only reaches about 1 1/2 feet in height. It produces pink flowers in early summer, followed by white berries. It can tolerate shade to full sun. 

Eastern Arborvitae

Also known as Northern White-Cedar and American Arborvitae. A small- to medium-sized coniferous evergreen tree with a narrow, pyramidal shape, which attains a height of 20-40 feet and a spread of 10-15 feet. Commonly cultivated and grown as a screen or hedge, its dense foliage provides good shelter and nesting sites.

California Figwort

Also known as California Bee Plant. An evergreen perennial that grows to 4 feet high and 3 feet wide. Its red to maroon flowers bloom from February through May and produce seeds that birds eat. It is drought tolerant and can grow from sun to shade. 

California Sage

Also known as Chia. An annual herb that grows to 2 feet in height. It produces pale blue to purple flowers from March to June. It tolerates poor soil and full sun.
