Birds Tell Us to Act on Climate
Pledge to stand with Audubon to call on elected officials to listen to science and work towards climate solutions.
Jamaal Nelson joined Audubon in 2021 as chief equity, diversity, and inclusion officer. Jamaal brings to Audubon extensive experience helping nonprofit and social justice leaders build and manage equitable and sustainable organizations, most recently as a Partner and Advisor with The Management Center. At The Management Center, he coached and led EDI efforts for nonprofit organizations, including the NAACP and American Red Cross, among many others—including Audubon.
Jamaal also brings national organizing and political experience from his roles with Leadership for Educational Equity and Builders, partnerships and advocacy experience from his time with the American Baptist Church, and organizational consulting and executive coaching experience with a wide range of clients. Jamaal holds a bachelor’s degree in organizational leadership from Vanderbilt University and a master of divinity degree from Harvard Divinity School, with a focus on organizational leadership. He will be based in Audubon's New York City headquarters.
