A career ecologist and restoration manager with over 10 years of professional experience, Kara Lankford serves as director of Gulf Coast Restoration for Audubon. Kara helps guide Audubon’s conservation work across the Gulf Coast to ensure comprehensive, science-based and community-supported restoration of the Gulf with a primary focus on bird recovery after the BP oil disaster. Kara came to Audubon after 7 years working on Gulf marine restoration issues at Ocean Conservancy. As a little girl, she made the Gulf of Mexico her playground; today, that love for the people in the region and unique species and habitats fuels her sense of purpose.
