As Vice President of Communications, Lisa Hardaway leads Audubon’s communications strategy, public relations, and internal communications. She comes to Audubon from Lambda Legal, a national legal organization whose mission is to achieve full recognition of the civil rights of LGBT people and everyone living with HIV through impact litigation, education, and public policy work. Lisa has invested 14 years with Lambda Legal, working her way up from a public information officer to deputy director of education and public affairs. During her tenure, she led communications efforts around two high-profile Supreme Court cases and 15 state-level marriage-equality campaigns, including a watershed legal case in Iowa.
Lisa is an active outdoor enthusiast who grew up on a farm in Iowa that has been in her family for more than 100 years. Before joining Lambda Legal, she worked in communications and outreach for The Center for Rural Affairs a sustainable agriculture organization based in Nebraska. She worked with family farmers across several states to elevate the economic and environmental impacts of corporate farming on rural areas.
