Lourdes Sugasti coordinates the project titled “Valuing, Protecting, and Enhancing Coastal Natural Capital of Panama.” She holds a M.S. in mechanical engineering sciences with a specialization in renewable energies and the environment, and a B.S. in environmental engineering, both from Universidad Tecnológica de Panamá. She has coordinated projects for the Panamanian Ministry of Environment, participated in Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) country reports, and conducted studies on carbon fluxes within the Panama Canal watershed.

Before joining Audubon, Sugasti was a seasonal professor at the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico’s City of Knowledge Campus. Sugasti also worked on water security issues for the Ministry of Environment in Panama and interned at CATHALAC, where she assisted in the calibration of the WRF/ARW model for weather forecasting.
