The Anchor River IBA is located at the south end of the Kenai Peninsula between the towns of Anchor Point and Homer.

Ornithological Summary

Anchor River ranked number 2 (tied with 2 other sites - Petersville and Swan Lake) in the protocol to identify migratory land bird habitats that support significant multi-species assemblages and concentrations. This IBA supports eight Partners in Flight priority species (Gray-cheeked Thrush, Golden-crowned Sparrow, Varied Thrush, Rusty Blackbird, Townsend's Warbler, and White-winged Crossbill), as well as two Audubon Alaska WatchList species of conservation concern (Blackpoll Warbler and Olive-sided Flycatcher).
