Eagle Island is an island along the Boise River just outside the state capital. The island itself consists of riparian vegetation with an overstory of Cottonwoods, overhanging the river.

Ornithological Summary

This site has been identified as an IBA because of the presence of a Great Blue Heron rookery with over 50 nesting pairs.

Conservation Issues

Given its close proximity to Boise, most threats to this site are a result of urbanization. Disturbance of the birds during nesting is a potential problem, as well as recreational overuse, and residential and commercial development.
