Middle Marsh
Middle Marsh is a series of marsh islands located between Beaufort and Harkers Island. The entire marsh complex is a component of the Rachael Carson Estuarine Reserve. Most of the site is regularly flooded saltmarsh dominated by smooth cordgrass (Spartina alterniflora). The site has two elevated areas with shrub thickets.
Ownership
The site is protected and managed by the North Carolina National Estuarine Research Reserve program.
