Nachusa Grasslands
Ornithological Summary
The following species with declining global populations nest at Nachusa: Northern harrier, Ring necked pheasant, Short-eared owl, Horned lark, Sedge wren, Bobolink, Eastern meadowlark, Western meadowlark, Dickcissel, Savannah sparrow, Grasshopper sparrow, Henslow?s sparrow and Vesper sparrow.
This site was chosen as an IBA because it met the criteria for Henslow's Sparrow
Ownership
The Nature Conservancy owns the 2800 acre Nachusa Grasslands preserve. More than 725 of these acres are protected through easements.
