Sanibel Lighthouse Park

Located in southwestern Lee County, at the extreme southeastern end of Sanibel Island.

A small recreational and historical park.

The Sanibel Lighthouse was built in 1884 and is the Island?s oldest standing structure.

Ornithological Summary

Though small, the Park has attracted large numbers of Neotropical migrants, especially after storms.

Conservation Issues

human disturbance, exotic plants

Boardwalks recently installed in the park, as well as areas roped off against human intrusion, have limited disturbance and damage to beaches and dunes. ? Some Australian-pines in the hammock have been herbicided, but those in the parking lot and along the beach have been retained.
