Owned and managed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service as part of the Michigan Islands National Wildlife Refuge, under Shiawassee National Wildlife Refuge personnel.

Habitat

Majority of the island is vegetated, including snags for a heron rookery. Sandspit with barren ground is used by nesting terns.
