Spectacular 72,000 acre park featuring 35 miles of Lake Michigan shoreline and numerous sand dunes as high as 200 feet. Grassland and forest ecosystems well-represented, as well as extensive beach.

Ornithological Summary

Michigan's premier site for the endangered Great Lakes population of the Piping Plover, supporting up to 20-25 pairs in recent years. Grassland bird assemblages are also well represented.


Large variety of cover types including northern hardwood forest, openland herbaceous, sand dunes, and beaches.
