In south-central Oregon, near Klamath Falls, Klamath County. Oregon's largest lake. The lake includes tens of thousands of acres of open water and a variety of marsh habitats.

Ornithological Summary

This area annually hosts many American White Pelicans, nesting Great Egrets and Black-crowned Night-Herons. During migration and winter, thousands of Tundra Swans, tens of thousands of geese, and hundreds of thousands of ducks are present. Peak numbers include 245,000 ducks (September), 38,000 geese (April), and 4,630 Tundra Swans (March) (USFWS census data). Other species of significance include Western and Clark's Grebe, Yellow Rail, Sora, Virginia Rail, Least Bittern, Snowy Egret, Green Heron, Tricolored Blackbird (Williamson River Delta), Wilson's Phalarope, Sandhill Crane, Caspian Tern, and Bald Eagle.
