Getting to Green Mountain Audubon Center

The Green Mountain Audubon Center is nestled in the foothills of the Green Mountains in Huntington, Vermont. Our trails and parking lots are located off of Main and Sherman Hollow Roads.

Groups: Please check your confirmation email for your program's meeting location. In general, during the spring/summer/fall most of our group programs meet at Audubon's Sugarhouse Parking Area. During the winter we meet at the Education Barn.

Directions to the Visitor Center and Education Barn

Our Visitor Center and Education Barn are located at 255 Sherman Hollow Road, Huntington, VT. Parking is available in three small dirt parking lots adjacent to the Education Barn.

  • Interstate 89 to Richmond (exit 11)
  • Go two miles into Richmond, turn right at the stoplight
  • After Round Church, continue on road bearing right
  • Go approximately five miles, following signs for Huntington
  • Turn right onto Sherman Hollow Road
  • Our Visitor Center and Education Barn are 1/4 mile up road on left 

From Route 116 heading south towards Hinesburg: 

  • Left at light onto CVU Road in Hinesburg
  • Straight through the four-way intersection past CVU high school
  • Follow road as it bends to the left and becomes Richmond Road
  • Turn right on Swamp Road
  • At 'T' bear left then follow road curving right onto Sherman Hollow Road
  • Our Visitor Center and Education Barn will be on your right just before the intersection with Main Road 
Directions to the Sugarhouse Parking Area

Use this gravel parking area for our sugarhouse and easy access to the Beaver Pond and River Trails.

GPS services can have trouble navigating to us. Please ensure that our address is showing up correctly before you depart.  

 

Search for Audubon Vermont Sugarhouse Parking Area or use address: 368 Main Rd, Huntington, VT.

Search for Audubon Vermont Sugarhouse Parking Area or use address: 260 Main Road, Huntington, VT.

Our Sugarhouse Parking Area is not listed in Apple Maps. We suggest navigating to this dropped pin or using Google Maps or Waze. Entering the address 260 Main Road, Huntington, VT will bring you to Main Road but not directly to our parking area.

  • Interstate 89 to Richmond (exit 11)
  • Go two miles into Richmond, turn right at the stoplight
  • After Round Church, continue on road bearing right
  • Go approximately five miles, following signs for Huntington
  • After you cross the Huntington River you will see Audubon's Sugarhouse on the right side of the road. Slow down.  
  • Turn right into the Sugarhouse Parking Area.
  • If you reach Sherman Hollow Road you've gone too far. Turn around. 
  • Left at the light onto CVU Road in Hinesburg
  • Straight through the four-way intersection past CVU high school
  • Follow road as it bends to the left and becomes Richmond Road
  • Turn right on Swamp Road
  • At 'T' bear left then follow road curving right onto Sherman Hollow Road
  • Audubon Vermont's Office and Education Barn will be on your right just before intersection with Main Road—continue driving
  • At the end of Sherman Hollow Road, turn left
  • Sugarhouse Parking Area will be immediately on your left
