Tern the Page

A Hog Island book club for bird nerds.

This year, we continue our tradition of fostering community around our shared love of books, birds, and nature. In order to make the community as expansive and inclusive as possible, Tern the Page book club has been reimagined to meet the present moment. All authors featured have a connection to Hog Island, Maine, or the world of birding and nature and will join us for virtual Meet the Author sessions while we build community through interesting and engaging book discussions.

Here’s what is new in 2026:

  • Tern the Page is now a year-long literary journey. This allows us to stay connected through shared reading experiences throughout the year. Each season features a different book.
  • In-person and virtual options available. Members from near and far are welcome to participate in whatever way best fits their needs. Members in Maine’s midcoast region are welcome to register as an in-person participant and join us at the Camden Public Library for in-person meetings in addition to virtual sessions. Members from away can register as a virtual participant to join us for the virtual Meet the Author sessions.
  • Participation is now free! Book club members do not need to purchase the books through the online store, but certain titles will be available for purchase there. This will make the book club more accessible for all and allow participants to choose the titles they are most interested in. Bye-bye all-or-nothing registration.
