Group Volunteer Opportunities with the Montezuma Audubon Center

Make an impact with your team!

The Montezuma Audubon Center is located in the Montezuma Wetlands Complex in Savannah, New York. Our staff and volunteers restore and steward habitat across the Complex, creating essential habitat for birds and other wildlife through planting native plants and removing invasive species—and we want you to join us!

These volunteer opportunities are great ways for groups of all sizes to pursue fun, outdoor team-building activities while making a real difference for the local environment.

Our volunteer opportunities are:

  • Year-round: Volunteers are needed throughout the year for work that aligns to the seasons: honeysuckle "popping", water chestnut removal, native seed collection, and more.
  • Flexible: Join us at one of our ongoing MARSH! volunteer days, or coordinate something separate with us. We're happy to find ways to make our opportunities suit your needs!
  • Impactful: The Montezuma Audubon Center and Montezuma Wetlands Complex provide essential habitat for more than 240 species of birds, in addition to mammals, reptiles, and amphibians. Not only do our volunteers ensure this habitat remains healthy, but they also help us create more habitat through restoration efforts.
