Volunteer on the Appleton-Whittell Research Ranch

Our community makes our work possible.

With nearly 8,000 acres to manage, facilities to care for, researchers to guide, and programs to lead, we rely on volunteers!

Countless people have contributed their time and labor—students, community members, local non-profits, and more—helping us maintain our facilities, further research, and improve habitat across the Research Ranch. Volunteers have built wildlife-friendly fences, created aquatic habitat, collected native seed, cleared roads, maintained landscaping, improved buildings, and more.

Check out our events page to learn more about current opportunities on the Research Ranch and head over to Audubon Southwest to discover opportunities across Arizona and New Mexico. Also, feel free to reach out to us directly at researchranch@audubon.org if you’re looking to give some of your time to the Research Ranch!
