Art at Audubon

Art at Audubon is a public art space at Aullwood Audubon Center offering opportunities and experiences to inspire an appreciation for nature by making it more accessible and relatable, evoking emotions that foster connection, and encouraging a sense of stewardship. By highlighting intricate details, displaying beauty, or depicting environmental issues, art encourages viewers to see the natural world with new eyes, leading to greater curiosity, awe, and a desire to protect it. 

Art can be a powerful tool for raising awareness about environmental issues, from showcasing the beauty of endangered species to depicting the destruction caused by climate change. By inspiring an emotional connection and sense of awe, art motivates people to protect the natural world they have come to appreciate. Art can encourage a sense of responsibility and a desire to ensure that these natural wonders are preserved for future generations to experience and enjoy.

Photography Awards Traveling Exhibit

ABOUT THE EXHIBIT

Birds don’t recognize borders, and their migrations connect people and places across the Americas. The National Audubon Society thought it was time that the Audubon Photography Awards follow their lead. In 2025 Audubon expanded the awards from a single contest open to residents of the United States and Canada to include a second one that showcases talent in Chile and Colombia. Why these two countries? They host some of the world’s most astounding avian biodiversity, including many species that migrate long distances, and are central to Audubon’s efforts to safeguard habitat and build climate resilience across the Western Hemisphere.

In 2025 two new awards, “Birds Without Borders” and “Conservation,” where added to reflect what we’ve long known: Visuals are a powerful vehicle for inspiring awe about interconnected ecosystems and spurring people to help protect them. As Audubon widens this geographic lens, they are thrilled to sharpen their focus on that mission.
