At the Seward Park Audubon Center, every visit begins with a simple invitation. Step outside. Look closer. Listen. Here, curiosity takes root and grows into a deeper understanding of the living world. Guided by a mission to protect birds and the places they need, today and tomorrow, we strive to strengthen community by facilitating a deeper connection to nature and the wonder of birds.

Set along the shores of Lake Washington in southeast Seattle, these 277 acres form a rare and vital refuge. Towering old growth forest shelters songbirds and owls. The open lake draws waterfowl and migratory species. Along the shoreline, life gathers in abundance. For people, these same landscapes offer space to wander, to learn, and to feel part of something larger. For birds, they provide food, shelter, and safe passage.

Since 2008, the Center has welcomed thousands of children, teens, and adults into this shared habitat. Through guided walks, hands-on learning, and quiet moments of observation, visitors come to see the world with new eyes. In doing so, they become part of a growing community shaped by curiosity, care, and a lasting connection to nature.
