Mealy Amazon
A simple vista
16" (41 cm). One of the 65 or more imported parrot species found in Florida (Sibley). And one of the largest of the Amazons, this dull, all green parrot is characterized by its two-tone tail, darker green at the base and bright green at the tip, and its obvious white eye ring (orbital). A "chalky" appearance on the feathers makes it appear dusty or "mealy," as if covered in a faint layer of flour. Its bill is a yellow-horn color at the base, darkening at the tip. The iris is orange-red to red. Feet are light gray. Four recognized sub-species may display a spattering of yellow feathers, or a blue/violet tinge, on the crown.

Nidificación
Breeding occurs from November to March and the female lays three eggs on average, incubating them for about 4 weeks. Like many young parrots they stay with their parents for a considerable time, about 2 months, before establishing their independence.
