Yellow-naped Amazon
A simple vista
14' (35 cm). It is related to the Yellow-headed Amazon and the Yellow-crowned Amazon, and being similar in appearance is sometimes difficult to accurately identify. If you are observing a juvenile of any of these species, and their plumage is still developing, it may be confusing. The adult Yellow-naped Amazon may be identified by the distinct yellow patch or band across the back of the neck or "nape". The rest of the head is typically green. (The occasional bird may have a bit of yellow on its forehead.) The dark gray beak becomes a lighter gray color towards the base of the upper beak. Feet are dark gray. Eyes are orange/red. Males and females have the same coloring.
