There are many ways you can get involved or support the Rio Salado Audubon Center. Your help makes our community-based conservation mission a reality! Together, we engage people in learning about and protecting birds and their habitats across Arizona, contributing to healthier ecosystems and supporting conservation work within the Rio Salado Habitat Restoration Area. Every action, big or small, helps conserve wildlife and the natural spaces they depend on.
There are many ways to get involved at Rio Salado Audubon Center and beyond:
Donate or Sponsor • Volunteer • Join an Education Program or Workshop • Join a Rio Community Festival • Join our Habitat Restoration Workdays • Join a Conservation Workday • Visit and Explore • Join a Guided Bird or Nature Walk
Education Programs: Audubon offers free, guided bird and nature walks on the first and third Saturdays on most cooler months. We also host environmental education programs, family workshops, and nature exploration activities throughout the year. Sign up or learn more here.
Conservation Volunteer Days: Hands-on volunteering and collaboration helps Audubon and our partners tackle invasive species in the area, conduct river cleanups, plant native species, maintain trails or support Burrowing Owl relocation in other parts of the state. Each of these efforts protects vital habitat and supports the species that call them home. Learn about or conservation programs here.
Community Events, Festivals & Rentals: Show your support by joining us for cultural celebrations, art shows, Rio Community Festivals, and much more. These events bring people together, highlight local talent, and help strengthen the community’s connection to nature and conservation. You can even rent the facility for your own event, with community discounts available. Funds from your rental directly supports our conservation and education work.
Volunteering: Whether you have a few hours for a simple project, or want to commit long-term, there’s a role for everyone. Volunteer with us to experience nature, engage with visitors or students at the center, and connect with passionate conservationists. Larger groups can join the Rio Salado Habitat Restoration Working Group efforts or contribute time or support to ongoing projects throughout the year.
Donate or Sponsor: We offer many amazing programs that support community engagement in conservation, education, and nature discovery. Your support or sponsorship can help Audubon reach new audiences, fund free Rio Community Festivals, build new nature lovers and conservation leaders through free education programs, or continue ongoing efforts to restore and preserve the surrounding habitat for people and wildlife.
