Brian Trusty
Brian has enjoyed a 23-year career in parks and recreation, land and habitat management, tourism, and economic development that includes executive management responsibilities in private for-profit, private non-profit, and public organizations. Brian’s career includes managing an outdoor adventure tour program that operated in 22 U.S. states, Canada, and Mexico; managing a system of nature parks for the Lower Colorado River Authority in Texas; leading the development and operation of the premier adventure-sports destination on the east coast; and performing strategic planning and management consulting for parks and recreation and land-management agencies throughout the United States. Since joining Audubon as executive director of Audubon Texas in late 2012, Brian has grown its annual operations by over $1.5 million. In July 2015 he was named Central Flyway vice president and now leads the Audubon network in 14 states. Brian has also served on the Texas State Parks Advisory Committee since 2013 and was elected chair of the Great Plains Landscape Conservation Collaboration Steering Committee (USFWS) in 2015. In addition to being a state park user, avid rock climber, mountain biker, and outdoorsman, Brian is Scoutmaster of his son’s Boy Scout troop and a happily married father of two.
