Senior Associate, Forest Conservation
About

Hailing from a small lobstering town in Midcoast Maine, Fen (they/them, she/her) came to Audubon Vermont in 2025 by way of Williams College (Bachelor’s, 2018)--where they studied Massachusetts grassland birds and worked in the Hopkins Forest sugarbush--and Tufts University (PhD, 2025). In their graduate work, they followed shifts in forest structure, bird populations, and habitat use across 30 years of changing management in northern Maine commercial forests, and explored territorial behavior in spruce-budworm associated warblers in Quebec. She has also previously worked for the Guppy Project (Trinidad), the Mackinac Straits Raptor Watch (MI), the Siskiyou Deer & Puma Project (CA), and the Maine Breeding Bird Atlas. At Audubon Vermont, she primarily conducts forest assessments, engages with producers, and surveys breeding birds as part of the Bird-Friendly Maple Program.

In their spare time, Fen can be found migrating to wintering sites at various Nordic ski trails, foraging for wild plants and fungi, or performing as a songwriter and fledgling drag artist. Email: fen.levy@audubon.org.
