Lorraine Sciarra, Princeton Counsel and Non-profit Expert, to Join Audubon Leadership Team

Lorraine Sciarra will become Audubon’s General Counsel in July, as the most recent addition to Audubon’s new leadership team.  “This is a cutting-edge team that understands impact and innovation and we’re lucky to have Lorraine,” said David Yarnold, Audubon’s CEO and President since September 2010.

Sciarra brings more than 20 years as Senior University Counsel at Princeton University to the national conservation organization.  Her broad expertise in not-for-profit law encompasses board governance, tax and charitable giving, endowment matters, financing arrangements, employee benefits, trusts and estates, and regulatory compliance.

“Lorraine’s ability to find practical, principled solutions and her passion for the environment will help transform Audubon,” said Yarnold.  Sciarra joins a team that has recently added Susan Lunden as Chief of Staff, and Phil Lambert, as Chief Information Officer.  Lunden served as a SR. V.P. and General Manager of numerous divisions during her highly successful 14-year tenure at Time, Inc., and Lambert’s track record includes two successful start-ups and massive improvements at two major insurance carriers.

“All three of these leaders share a deep understanding of for-profit and NGO business practices, they’re proven innovators and they have a deep commitment to Audubon’s mission,” Yarnold said.

Sciarra began her not-for-profit career at Bay Area Lawyers for the Arts in San Francisco.  She also clerked for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in Washington DC and spent four years as a corporate tax associate at the law firm of Morrison & Foerester.   She is a frequent speaker and presenter, and has chaired committees of national law organizations. She currently serves on several boards, including the Wenner-Gren Foundation for Anthropological Research in New York City.  A committed conservationist with a passion for the arts, Lorraine is currently chair of the board of the Stony-Brook Millstone Watershed Association, in Hopewell, New Jersey.
