Deeply Rooted Landscapes and Aullwood Audubon Announce New Native Plant Partnership

Making native plants more accessible to the local community

DAYTON, Ohio — August 20, 2026 — Deeply Rooted Landscapes and Aullwood Audubon are expanding their partnership to make native plants more accessible to the Dayton community through a new seasonal native plant retail experience in September.

Beginning Wednesday, September 2 and running through Wednesday, September 30, Deeply Rooted Landscapes will operate the Deeply Rooted Landscapes Retail Pop-Up Nursery with a selection of native forbs, grasses, trees and shrubs for sale at Aullwood Farm during regular business hours Wednesday through Sunday. Visitors will have a convenient opportunity to shop for Midwest native plants while exploring one of the region's premier conservation destinations.

Building on a successful collaboration over the past several years, the partnership combines Aullwood Audubon's long-standing commitment to conservation and environmental education with Deeply Rooted Landscapes' expertise in growing native plants, designing wildlife-friendly landscapes, and educating homeowners about habitat gardening.

The organizations first partnered through Aullwood's native plant educational programming, followed by a collaborative effort during Aullwood Audubon's 2026 Native Plant Sale. During that event, Deeply Rooted Landscapes donated a portion of nursery sales to support Aullwood, while both organizations promoted one another's events through coordinated marketing efforts. The partnership introduced more people to native plants and demonstrated the shared mission of both organizations: connecting people with nature through habitat restoration.

This September, that partnership will take the next step with a Pop-Up Nursery, giving visitors another opportunity to purchase native plants while visiting Aullwood.

“We are very excited about this new partnership opportunity with Aullwood Audubon.  Our missions align: protect wildlife and ecosystems by empowering people to take action and give them the knowledge and tools to do so. The Miami Valley is ready for a full-scale native plant nursery. Throughout our community, people are gardening with native plants and enhancing the ecosystems in their yards. They are taking action in their municipalities to get native plants in our parks and common areas," said Kara Maynard, Owner, Deeply Rooted Landscapes. "The demand for native plants has grown significantly in recent years, but accessibility remains an issue. We are excited to break that barrier and establish a retail location where people can come for plants and native plant knowledge.”

Located just minutes from the Deeply Rooted Landscapes nursery, Aullwood welcomes thousands of visitors each year who are passionate about birds, wildlife, and conservation. By offering native plants at Aullwood, the partnership makes it easier for visitors to create habitat in their own yards and extend conservation efforts beyond the nature center.

“Our partnership with Deeply Rooted Landscapes is a natural extension of Aullwood Audubon’s mission to connect people with nature and inspire lasting conservation. By making native plants more accessible to the community, we are helping people take what they experience at Aullwood and bring it home—to their own yards, neighborhoods, and communities," said Leigh Ann Miller, Director of Audubon Ohio Centers.

Visitors are encouraged to watch for additional details about the September pop-up, upcoming educational opportunities, and future announcements as the partnership continues to grow.
