Donor Insight Panel

Your voice matters to help protect birds.

The Donor Insight Panel is a community of passionate supporters who provide feedback through short surveys to help shape our strategies, refine our messaging, and ensure we connect meaningfully with the people who make our work possible. Together, their voices offer a clearer picture of what inspires donors and strengthen Audubon’s impact.

Ready to share your feedback? Send your name, email, and zip code to greategretsociety@audubon.org or call 866-284-6297 to be added as a panelist.

How It Works

Every month we send you a short survey by email. Some surveys will explore your enthusiasm for birds. Some surveys will be topical, for instance, your views about conservation priorities. No survey will take more than a few minutes to complete.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed participating and look forward to the next email with the new survey and results from the previous month. It makes me feel connected to the larger birding community…I feel like I’ve found my people!”
Peggy C., Edelstein, Illinois

Then, we’ll share a summary of the previous month’s results with you.

What we ask of you:

  • Make your best effort to respond to most or all of our monthly surveys;
  • Try to participate for a full year. You can leave the panel at any time, always with our gratitude.

What we promise in return:

  • We’ll share your input widely with colleagues; and
  • We’ll report back to you each month with a summary of the survey results.

Panelists have helped our web team plan new features. They have helped us focus our communications around your priorities and expectations as a member. And the photos and stories Panelists share give us all a sense of joy, hope, and determination to never give up.

Donor Insight Panel Feedback & Stories

“Short and sweet but really helps me summarize the important issues Audubon is addressing and fighting for. It is very motivational for me and reminds me of the important work you’re doing!”
Cathy J., Seattle, Washington

Here’s a look at the kinds of questions we ask in our Donor Insight Surveys along with examples of the results. By sharing your thoughts, you help shape Audubon’s work and connect with a community of fellow bird lovers. These surveys are a space to celebrate the birds in your daily life, exchange stories, and work together for their protection.

And sometimes we ask you to tap into your inspiration and creativity.

For example, we recently asked panelists the following question: ”Please share a six-word story that expresses your wonder at the spectacle of migration.”

Wings whisper secrets across endless skies. –Sherry P, Fort Washington, Pennsylvania

Honks above my house at night. –Bonita S., Sorrento, Florida

Sandhill Cranes bugling in the mist. –Meghan H., Saint Cloud, Minnesota

Returning warblers eat all my food.  –Andrew J., Polk City, Florida

Falling leaves and flapping wingsbeauty! –Marty S., Lansing, Michigan

Soft owl hoots warm cool nights. –Michael S., East Meadows, New York

These repeating cycles give me hope. –Jane H., Pinehurst, North Carolina

At other times, we ask questions about inspiring events or activities.

“What was your most memorable experience at an Audubon center or sanctuary?”

“It was a yearly girls trip and we went to the Rowe Sanctuary for the Sandhill Cranes. As the cranes were lifting off the Platte River the three of us were in the bird blind with tears streaming down our faces. Magical moment and one we still talk about.”  - Eileen G., Seattle, Washington

“Visiting the rookery at Smith Oaks, High Island, TX at the height of nesting season. The spoon bills! Egrets! Herons! Migrant warbler! And alligators! It boggles my senses.” - Terry J., Lapeer, Michigan

“In winter, I volunteer at the Audubon Center at Riverlands to do the Trumpeter Swan survey. Every season that I have participated, there is at least one sunrise that just takes your breath away. The rising sun is serenaded by the trumpet calls. Just a wonderful experience!” - Mary D., St. Louis, Missouri
