Also known as Spicewood, this small, evergreen tree or large shrub typically grows 15 to 20 feet tall. Songbirds are drawn to its berries, which turn from green to orange to black, and to insects that feed on the plant's pale green flowers. This perennial is useful as a hedge plant, growing dense foliage in full to partial sun and moist to dry soils.
