As Head of Interior, Ryan Zinke’s Platform for Conservation Would Go National

Audubon encourages Rep. Zinke to commit to protect public lands and safeguard our natural heritage.

WASHINGTON—Today, President-elect Donald Trump’s transition team announced Representative Ryan Zinke (R-MT) as his choice for Secretary of the Interior. The National Audubon Society issued the following response:

“As head of Interior, Ryan Zinke would have a national platform to influence how America takes care of its birds, other wildlife and the places they need,” said David Yarnold (@david_yarnold), president and CEO of Audubon. “We encourage him to draw from the American West’s proud legacy of bipartisan conservation to help protect America’s public lands and keep our natural heritage safe for our kids and grandkids."

The National Audubon Society saves birds and their habitats throughout the Americas using science, advocacy, education, and on-the-ground conservation. Audubon’s state programs, nature centers, chapters, and partners have an unparalleled wingspan that reaches millions of people each year to inform, inspire and unite diverse communities in conservation action. Since 1905, Audubon’s vision has been a world in which people and wildlife thrive. Audubon is a nonprofit conservation organization. Learn more at www.audubon.org and follow @audubonsociety.
