About

Amy has been with Spring Creek Prairie since March of 2007. She earned a Bachelors in Human Sciences from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and a Master of Fine Arts in Writing, from the University of Nebraska-Omaha. Her many years of experience on the prairie working with entomologists, ornithologists, botanists, herpetologists, and other scientists has given her a unique education not found in a traditional classroom. She shares her enthusiasm and knowledge of the tallgrass prairies with volunteers, visitors, students and all those she encounters. Amy assists with Spring Creek’s outdoor education programs with students of all ages and works closely with volunteers.

Her first introduction to the sandhill crane migration happened in 1983 when her father was working with Nebraska Game and Parks at Fort Kearny near the Platte River. It was there she discovered Rowe Sanctuary and began to think differently about birds and their migratory patterns.

Amy enjoys passing on her love of snakes, beetles, and wild places with her family and considers the prairie her home.
