Celina Ceballos

Welcome to Celina Ceballos, who joined the Audubon flock in September 2026. 

Originally from Delaware, Celina has lived in the Fort Myers/Naples area since 2023, completing her master’s in environmental science at Florida Gulf Coast University and working for Rising Tide Explorers as a kayak tour guide, Collier County as a sea turtle nesting monitor, and Rookery Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve as an environmental specialist. 

After visiting Corkscrew several times over the years, Celina has fallen in love with bald cypress domes, marshes, and pine flatwoods, and is thrilled to be able to work in such amazing ecosystems with an inspiring team and organization. She comes with both field and laboratory experiences in ecology, herpetology, hydrology, endangered species conservation, and restoration, having worked with sea turtles, gopher tortoises, and Florida’s freshwater herpetofauna. 

Celina appreciates the data collection and project design behind science, but is also enthusiastic about science communication, with a minor in journalism and consistent involvement in outreach and community science projects like event presentations and FrogWatch. 

With Cuban heritage, Celina is also passionate about expanding opportunities in science to fellow Latinas and other marginalized groups. Outside of work, Celina continues to spend time in nature through hiking, kayaking, and scuba diving. She has a background in dance and theater, so she loves Zumba, line dancing, and watching musicals.
