About

Erin’s passion for nature began at a young age when she would fish with her father. When she wasn’t learning how to bait a line, she wandered the shores of the rivers and lakes, exploring and learning about the wildlife she encountered.

These experiences would nurture a love for the outdoors and animals that would lead her to pursue and complete her bachelor’s degree in Biology at Texas A&M University-San Antonio.  Erin worked at the San Antonio Zoo Education Department for over twelve years, where not only her passion for nature conservation, but her adoration for sharing knowledge really grew. This led her to teach middle school in the public school system as well.  Her experience with both informal and formal teaching has led her to a greater understanding of how to make learning enjoyable.

Now, working for Mitchell Lake Audubon Center, Erin is continuing her true passion: building connections between people and the outdoors around them in order to nourish a lifelong love and appreciation for birds, wildlife, and nature!

Outside of work, Erin enjoys spending time with her own wild ones, her daughter and son, and tending to her chickens and garden.
