About

Julie is the Center Director and a dedicated naturalist at Dogwood Canyon Audubon Center. Her passion for the outdoors began during childhood family trips to national parks, inspiring a lifelong commitment to conservation. Julie earned her B.S. in Nutrition/Dietetics from Texas Tech University and applied her scientific training as a research assistant in the Department of Pharmacology at U.T. Southwestern Medical Center.

A certified Texas Master Naturalist, Julie has contributed to projects ranging from invertebrate studies and native plant gardens to habitat restoration focused on invasive species removal. She began her Audubon career as a Toyota TogetherGreen education intern, later serving as Volunteer Coordinator for both Dogwood Canyon and Trinity River Audubon Centers. She advanced to Conservation and Operations Manager at Dogwood Canyon before assuming her current leadership role. Still a naturalist at heart, Julie tends her native plant gardens at home, where she enjoys observing the birds and invertebrates they attract.
