Kris aims to promote the health of the Richardson Bay ecosystem through conducting research on the local eelgrass and waterbirds and sharing this knowledge with the local community. They also work to maintain the Center’s demonstration gardens and nursery and facilitate restoration projects within the Sanctuary.
Kris graduated with a B.A. in Environmental Studies from Bryn Mawr College in 2025. At Bryn Mawr, they worked as a Student Sustainability Coordinator, for which they implemented campus initiatives to increase student engagement in sustainable practices and contributed to the College’s Climate Action Plan. Additionally, Kris has held a variety of jobs and internships in environmental education and outreach, salt marsh restoration, urban agriculture, and more. Working as a Biological Intern at Valley Water was the catalyst for their interest in birds, as much of their time there was spent surveying for migratory bird nests and learning about the birds of the Bay Area. In their free time, you’ll probably find Kris hiking, cooking, running, or exploring new cafés!
