Merrill McGregor

Merrill McGregor joined Audubon South Carolina in 2024 as Policy Director, where she leads state-level advocacy and policy initiatives to protect birds, wildlife, and the habitats they depend on. Merrill works closely with state agencies, legislators, conservation partners, and local communities to advance science-driven, bipartisan solutions for land conservation, wetlands protection, coastal resilience, and climate adaptation. Before joining Audubon, Merrill held leadership roles at the Coastal Conservation League, where she focused on policies to safeguard South Carolina’s coastlines, waterways, and natural resources. She brings deep expertise in coalition-building, legislative strategy, and public engagement to her work at Audubon. Merrill holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the College of Charleston. Based in Columbia, she enjoys exploring South Carolina’s wild and scenic waterways, casting a line whenever she can, and testing her green thumb — usually with mixed results. At home, she shares her space with a pair of deeply opinionated cats.
