Sofia Lopez

Sofia  joined the Trinity River Audubon Center team in 2023, bringing her passion for connecting people with nature to every program she leads. Originally from McAllen, Texas, Sofia discovered her love for environmental education while working at a local nature center in the Rio Grande Valley — an experience that sparked her lifelong dedication to inspiring environmental stewardship.

She holds an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Care and Development and a Bachelor’s Degree in English, combining her love for learning and teaching to create engaging, inclusive educational experiences for all ages. Sofia aims to help others appreciate the wonders of the natural world and understand the importance of protecting it.

When she’s not exploring the trails and wildlife of North Texas, Sofia enjoys discovering the unique species and habitats of her home region in the Rio Grande Valley.
