Dogwood Canyon Audubon Center will host a special Art Exhibit and Art Sale featuring Filipina-American sculptor Elaine Antonio Bordeaux on Saturday, September 26, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM in Cedar Hill, Texas.
The exhibition celebrates the culmination of Bordeaux’s 2026 Artist Residency at Dogwood Canyon Audubon Center, where she spent the summer creating artwork inspired by the birds, wildlife, plants, and natural environment of Dogwood Canyon.
Where Art Meets Conservation
Through sculpture and ceramics, Bordeaux explores the relationship between art, nature, culture, and conservation. Her residency provided an opportunity to observe the wildlife of North Texas and translate those encounters into works of art that encourage viewers to appreciate and protect the natural world.
Birds have become an important focus of the residency. Bordeaux hopes to demonstrate how art can become a form of environmental storytelling and conservation advocacy.

Community-Created Birdbaths Highlight the Exhibition
A special highlight of the September 26 exhibition will be a display of ceramic birdbaths created by participants in Bordeaux’s Ceramic Art and Conservation Workshops, presented as part of her artist residency.
The workshops brought together art education and conservation, giving participants hands-on experience in ceramic hand-building and glazing while learning about birds, their habitats, and the importance of providing safe sources of water for wildlife.
The finished birdbaths represent one of the central ideas behind Bordeaux’s residency: we can help in our little ways like providing clean water in our backyard to help our birds.
Displaying the participants’ work alongside the artist’s sculptures also celebrates the community component of the residency and the role artists can play as educators, advocates, and catalysts for environmental awareness.
Internationally Traveled Works Return to the Spotlight
The exhibition will also give visitors an opportunity to experience selected works from Bordeaux’s broader body of sculpture, including pieces that have been exhibited and traveled internationally.
These works connect her residency at Dogwood Canyon with her larger artistic journey and demonstrate the evolution of her practice—from sculptures exploring human courage, resilience, cultural heritage, and identity to her growing body of work inspired by wildlife and conservation.
By bringing internationally traveled works together with sculptures created during her Texas residency and birdbaths made by workshop participants, the exhibition creates a conversation between heritage, humanity, community, and the natural world.
A Celebration of Art, Nature and Community
The September 26 exhibition represents more than the conclusion of an artist residency. It is a celebration of the connections that can develop when artists, students, community members, and conservation organizations work together.
Visitors will have an opportunity to meet Bordeaux, view and purchase selected artwork, see works created during the residency, and experience the community-created ceramic birdbath collection.
As a Filipina-American artist, Bordeaux also brings elements of her cultural heritage and personal journey into her artistic practice, connecting identity, nature, community, and storytelling through sculpture.

About Elaine Antonio Bordeaux
Elaine Antonio Bordeaux is a Filipina-American sculptor, ceramic artist, author, attorney, and community leader whose work explores nature, cultural heritage, resilience, and the human spirit. Her sculptures have been presented to audiences in the United States and internationally. Working primarily in sculpture and ceramics, Bordeaux uses art as a vehicle for storytelling, education, cultural expression, and advocacy.
Her 2026 Artist Residency at Dogwood Canyon Audubon Center marks an expansion of her artistic practice into wildlife and bird conservation, bringing together her passion for sculpture, environmental awareness, education, and community engagement.
