Texas Chapters Expand to a New Generation, Reaffiliate Statewide

The work they do on the ground helps move us closer to our Flight Plan goals of bending the bird curve.

Texas Audubon Chapters are active across the state. The work they do on the ground helps move us closer to our Flight Plan goals of bending the bird curve. Over the last year chapters in Texas had over 30,000 volunteer hours, partnered with over 200 groups, saw over 36,000 participants at events with 33% first time participants, and improved nearly 5,000 acres of habitat all within 16 priority geography areas for Audubon. Congrats to our Texas chapters!

A New Generation of Birders

A major success this year was the creation of Audubon Aggie, the Texas A&M College Station student chapter, made possible thanks to the support of the Texas A&M Natural Resources Institute and Rio Brazos Audubon Society. Connecting with Gen Z birders opens a new generation of birding style and audience. We are hopeful this club will inspire other campuses across the state to take the initiative and bring Audubon to their school.

Building Chapter Capacity

Over the course of the spring, Chapter Intern Delaney Hankins pulled together chapter resources to help with finances, social media, and outreach. Her toolkits and guides will help chapters across the state connect with the general public.

Save the Date: Chapter Round Up

This fall we will be hosting a Chapter Round Up, open to all Audubon Texas Chapter members to connect with one another, share learnings, and build community. If you are part of your local chapter, we hope you will consider joining us in Austin on September 26–27.
