108th CBC breaks record for number of counts

Despite much inclement weather during the 108th Count period, an all-time record number of Christmas Bird Counts (2104 and still climbing) were included in the 2007-2008 CBC season. Read more and explore the counts!


   
Major Victory for Birds


Efforts to develop a Navy landing field near Pocosin Lakes NWR, a Global Important Bird Area, have been dropped, thanks to the efforts of Audubon North Carolina staff and volunteers. Click here for more details on the decision.

New Global Important Bird Areas announced

Twenty-five new global Important Bird Areas (IBA) have been prioritized. This brings total to 123 sites from 16 states, encompassing over 92 million acres of habitat. Represented here are some of the highest priority sites for focusing conservation efforts to protect globally threatened species and others on the Audubon WatchList. See the list.
